A letter to my future self      “Replace “I should’ve known better with “now I know better.” Forgive yourself, for self-shame is self-sabotage.”      Guilt has always been something that’s had a firm hold on me. It haunts me, follows me through my workout routine, sits with me at dinner, and has its own indent in my bed at night. I wish I could feel my skin before it was tainted or look through my mirror before it was cracked.      But recently, my appetite is back, my skin is bright, and I feel at peace. I have learned that I can fix my broken mirror before helping others. I walked on broken shards for so long, crunching and shattering under my feet. And although I bled every time I picked up the broken shards, it was better than never cleaning them up.      I am grateful for the love and the loss. I am grateful for every tree I’ve hugged or hidden behind. I am grateful for all life around me. I am even thankful for the...

Logo/Business Card Cont.

Image
(I put it on a Google slide for organization and your viewing pleasure.)    As previously mentioned in my last post, I had gone through a couple of rough drafts for possible logos. The left of the first slide depicts a raccoon in a raggedy tree with a leaf pile below it. The leaf pile spells "safety", and in the tree, it says "to", which would convey the message of "Racoons to Safety." This logo and design, in general, was too much to look at and overall very messy. I was running into brick walls of raccoon logos and desperately wanted to use negative space somehow, but I had no ideas to incorporate them. At this point, I was ready to move on from the idea, scrap it, and head to a more personal one. When researching solo-film artist logos, I discovered "Lemon Films." Lemon films had a logo with a lemon in it with a cinema wheel incorporated into it. With this reference, I created the idea of "Kyle Productions." The logo is a half-cut ...

Logo/Business Card

(I put it on a Google slide for organization and your viewing pleasure.)      Here is my design for my future business! I had a lot of trouble going through this design, and it took me a hefty amount of time to finally settle on something that I felt 1. looked promising and 2. I had an emotional connection with. In most of my time in the class on Friday, I chose to go with the fun idea of starting an imaginary "Raccoons to Safety" business where I went through various designs; however, having something halfway distant from my heart and a massive creative block when it came to designing the logo; I decided to go a different route and focused on what I cared about. I went through trial and error with many other designs, like a half-cut banana with a cinema wheel within its seeds. But in the end, I chose this half-moth and half-butterfly tattoo idea I have had in my head for a very long time. This company would represent not only the physical part of me but also the mental p...

About Me

Who am I? My name is Kyle Gianni, and I'm from Sleepy Hollow, New York. I'm a Film & Media major and a Political Science major. One fun fact about me is that I have a massive soft spot for animals. In the confines of my small suburban house and backyard, we were able to harbor chickens, birds, hamsters, rabbits, dogs, cats, lizards, and too many fish. Due to this, I value nature and the idea that everything will work itself out. Beyond my philosophies, I love to wrestle and hang out with friends while saving time for myself to be creative. What are my initial feelings about the class, and what do I expect? Although it was hard to fully immerse myself in the atmosphere of creating digital media over Zoom, I'm incredibly excited. Since a young age, I've had a passion for creating media, and I'm sure this class will push me to different kinds of media I haven't explored yet. I expect to grow as a future filmmaker and improve upon my video and photo editing skil...
